Ween Tortures Puppies For Fun

Ween
Album: Chocolate and Cheese
Spinal Meningitis (Got Me Down)

Marilyn Manson?  A dimpled blonde moppet with a pretty pink bow in her hair.  Cannibal Corpse?  Charmed, I'm sure.  Norwegian death metal?  A leisurely stroll amongst the spring daffodils.  Take 'em.  Take 'em all.  Take 'em and stack 'em up, one on top of the other, until they form a mighty Sauron-esque edifice, a thrusting tower of malice.

They ain't got nothin' on "Spinal Meningitis."  As close to pure evil as anything I have ever heard.

Dear god.  Creepy as fuck.

Actually, Ween's Chocolate and Cheese is a fairly excellent album.  Voodoo Lady rocks.  I Can't Put My Finger On It is appropriately weird.  Take Me Away leaves me giddy.  And the Ween brothers are damn good musicians.

And it's obvious that in their spare time they torture puppies for fun.

Nice cover photo though.

  3. I've listened to Ween quite a few times on last.fm, and this seems really different from what I've heard. I actually like this sound better than what I've heard though. Haha. They are in some ways similar to TMBG, correct? Anyway, listening to TMBG radio was how I discovered them.

  4. They've done country albums, blues albums, rock albums, all in their inimitably satirical way, but none compare to calorie rich goodness of Chocolate and Cheese. TMBG is a decent comparison, but Ween's approach is more subtle, a bit more insidious. And they're better musicians.

  5. I really liked Voodoo Lady. Even the part that ends the chorus, where it sounds more like some cheap 80's stuff, than an interesting blend of old groove and progressive noise.

  6. Voodoo Lady is my favorite too. Spinal Meningitis was just too creepy to pass up. :)
